The compression ratio will not change because I am 87.3% sure that the stock compressed head gasket is 1.0mm. Having a metal headgasket does not dictate the amount of boost that I run. It is more of an economical mod. They are re-useable, so there is no need to keep buying stock headgaskets. They can indeed handle more power than a stock head gasket. However, I hardly hear of people blowing headgaskets due to their power levels with our cars so I am not sure if it is necessary. I have it as a "just in case" mod. If you were to get a head gasket that was larger than stock, then you could run more boost safely. But that would only be advantageous if you were running higher boost all the time. When you weren't running high boost, your car would lack power due to the low compression. My suggestion is to get a 1.2-1.6mm metal headgasket depending on your mods and future plans...
